Family Mystery Solved

This article described some genealogical research that culminated in the probable identification of the father of the illegitimate son of my great-great aunt. By analysing the unusual Christian names she gave to her child, and with knowledge of the local geography and my great-great aunt's occupation, it became possible to make a good guess as to who the father was.

Update September 2017 - Family Mystery Really Solved!

I have just been contacted by a descendant of my great-great aunt's illegitimate son, who has confirmed by DNA analysis that they, and the putative father I identified in the article, share the same DNA! Thus my original hypothesis is proved correct.
