Illustrated Talks...
I started giving talks on Henry John Hatch thirteen years ago, initially to publicize Henry's Trials, the story of his life. Subsequently, I have presented talks on my second book, Smethurst's Luck, and book No. three, Murder in the Red Barn. Some original research on the life and work of Isambard Kingdom Brunel is the basis for a fourth talk. Talk No 5 is extracted from my book Reverend Duke and the Amesbury Oliver.
To date, (May 2023), I have spoken to more than 145 groups including the U3A, WEA, Family History Societies, Lunch Clubs, Dinner Clubs, Probus Clubs and various other organizations; several, more than once. Audience sizes have varied from 15, to more than 250 in a cinema. If you would like me to talk to your group, please email me at pnd.maggs at gmail.com I will let you know my availability together with my fee and an estimate of travel costs (from Chelmsford, Essex). I generally do around one talk a month so most dates are available, and I am willing to fill in at short notice in the event of a speaker cancellation. A list of the organizations I have already given talks to is shown below. Several U3A speakers' secretaries have volunteered to give feedback following my visit. Should you wish to contact them, please let me know by email.
Presentations are given in PowerPoint. I can provide a digital projector and two metre wide screen which is usually adequate for an audience of 200 or more.
